New Publication

Finally, after years of sub-par submissions and dreadful attempts at stories, Daily Science Fiction took pity on me and published one of my pieces, When Jimmy Hendermann Wore a Dress to School.

Those of you who’ve been following a long for a while now probably realize that this is a  big deal for me. DSF is one of my absolute favorite magazines. And, no, I’m not just saying that because they decided to publish me ; see my previous posts with short story recommendations if don’t believe me.

Secondly, the publication came at just the right time.

Until DSF decided this one, my sixth submission to them, was worth publizing, it had been exactly one year and one day since my latest and only professional publication, so, yeah, I was feeling like fluke. On top of that, I was having serious motivation issues. My writing craft wasn’t improving nearly as quickly as I wanted it to, and it had been nothing but rejections lately for the few stories I didn’t throw directly in the trash can after finishing. That’s a recipe for a writer who’s if not quiting, then at least hitting very a serious slump.

I won’t try to convice you that one extra publication kills the feeling of being a fluke completely, but for the moment it’s more a feeling of not being quite there yet. Until I hit my next crisis, of course.

So, yeah. Thank you to the good folks at DSF, and to those of you dropping by, I hope you’ll read and perhaps even enjoy When Jimmy Hendermann Wore a Dress to School.
